Biography

Grant Chamberlain served as a Partner of OneVentures and was a trusted and highly regarded member of the team for 4 years until he lost his life in a tragic accident, on 28th January, 2022.

Grant was on the Investment Committee of the 1V Venture Credit Fund IV and the OneVentures Growth Fund V and was a partner and fund lead for the Growth Fund V. He served as a Non-executive Director on the board of several of OneVentures portfolio companies including Smart Sparrow, My Mobile Data, Clinical Genomics, Kepler Analytics, Lumary and on behalf of Employment Hero, served as Director on the Webscale board.

Prior to his time at OneVentures, Grant was Australian Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Financial Sponsors for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He had over twenty years’ experience in Australian and cross border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and capital markets at global investment banks Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and Nomura and had a broad range of experience across industries including technology, healthcare, consumer goods, financial services and natural resources.

Grant led many of the largest and most complex transactions in Australia including Woodside’s offer for Oil Search, Iron Mountain’s acquisition of Recall, CSC’s acquisition of UXC, Wilmar and First Pacific’s acquisition of Goodman Fielder, Dai-ichi Life’s acquisition of Tower Australia, Kirin’s acquisition of Lion Nathan, Cephalon’s acquisition of Arana Therapeutics and its investment in Mesoblast, Foster’s acquisition of Southcorp and Webcentral’s merger with Melbourne IT.

Grant also served as non-executive director and member of the audit and remuneration committees of Immutep Limited, an ASX and NASDAQ listed immuno-oncology research company.

He held an LLB (Hons) and B.Com from the University of Melbourne.

We at OneVentures will always remember him as a respected leader and trusted colleague, expert financier and a fearless challenger to convention. From all of us who were mentored by him, supported by him, challenged by him and inspired by him – we want to honour Grant for the unique depth of experience that he gave to all of us. It was a privilege to have worked alongside him both as a colleague and as a friend, and we offer our sincere condolences to his family, friends and business associates who we know are also coming to terms with his passing.
